In Deuteronomy 5:22-33 Moses reminds his audience about the day when God gave His law on Mount Sinai. This historical reference point was intended to prompt the people of Israel toward obedience to that law. Their adherence to God’s commands was going to be critical if they wanted to enjoy all of the blessings associated with the land of promise.
